Mississippi Magazine recipe contest!
Share your best original recipe with us! The winning recipes will be featured in the “Best of Mississippi” section of our July/August issue of Mississippi Magazine, and winners in each category will receive a signed copy of our cookbook, At the Table and a Mississippi cookie cutter. The grand prize winner will receive a package from Viking Range Corporation that includes a night at the luxurious Alluvian Hotel in Greenwood, a Viking Cooking School class for two, and the new Viking Hand Blender.

OffiCial Rules
- How to Enter: All submissions must be original recipes and must not have been previously published. If there is a special story behind your recipe, please submit that as well. Mail your original recipe in any of the five categories (Appetizer, Salad, Entrée, Vegetable or Side Dish, Dessert), along with full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address to Mississippi Magazine, Attention: Recipe Contest, 5 Lakeland Circle, Jackson, MS 39216. Or you can enter by emailing editor@mismag.com (be sure to include our name, address, and phone number in your email). Individuals may enter as many recipes in as many categories as desired.
- Eligibility: Entrant must be 18 years of age and a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia. Employees of Sponsors, the Sponsors' parents, subsidiaries, affiliated companies, and agents and the immediate family (defined as parents, spouse, children, siblings, grandparents) of each such employees, and all those with whom such employees are domiciled, are NOT eligible.
- Timing: All recipes must be received by Mississippi Magazine no later than May 16, 2008. Winning recipes will be published in Mississippi Magazine in the July/August 2008 issue or in a later issue.
- Judges' Decisions: Winners will be chosen based on taste and originality of recipe. This contest will have five winners, one in each category. Each entrant selected as a potential winner must comply with all terms and conditions set forth in these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all such requirements. For each prize, a potential winner will be selected by a panel of judges from all entries received on or before the entry deadline. The decision will be made on or about June 6, 2008, by Sponsor, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest. Winner will be notified by mail, and the winner's name shall be published in the next issue of Mississippi Magazine and online at www.mississippimagazine.com.
- Prizes: Grand prize (1): One night at the Alluvian Hotel in Greenwood, cooking classes for 2 at the Viking Cooking School and new Viking Hand Blender. Category first prize (5): one autographed copy of At the Table with Patty Roper and one Mississippi cookie cutter. Total Approximate Retail Value of Each Category First Prize Package: $25. Prizes nontransferable and must be accepted as awarded. No cash or other substitution may be made, except by Sponsor in the event that the prize cannot be awarded for any reason, in which case, Sponsor will prize a prize of equal or greater value. All taxes, fees and surcharges on prizes are the sole responsibility of winner.
- Other Terms and Conditions: If any prize or prize notification is returned as non-deliverable, the potential winner will be disqualified and another potential winner will be selected in the original potential winner's place. By accepting the prize, the winner agrees that the Sponsor and those acting under the Sponsor's authority, may use winner's name, picture/portrait likeness and/or voice, for advertising and promotional purposes without further consideration, unless prohibited by law. BY ACCEPTING THE PRIZE, THE WINNER AGREES THAT THE SPONSOR, ITS SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION AGENCIES, AND ALL OF THE SPONSOR'S OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS, WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR, AND WILL BE HELD HARMLESS BY WINNER FOR ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY INJURY, LOSS OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND TO PERSONS AND PROPERTY, DUE IN WHOLE OR IN PART, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, FROM THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, USE OR MISUSE OF THE PRIZE OR PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST OR PARTICIPATION IN ANY CONTEST OR PRIZE RELATED ACTIVITY. Subject to all federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited.
- Miscellaneous: All entries become the sole property of Sponsor and none will be acknowledged or returned; recipes may be used in any future issue of Mississippi Magazine. Entries that are lost, late, misdirected, postage-due, damaged, illegible, garbled, or incompletely received, for any reason, will not be eligible. Mississippi Magazine assumes no responsibility for recipes. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, human error or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. The Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, any combination thereof, or otherwise, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Contest. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, stolen, or misdirected entries. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
- Winners List: Winners' names and recipes will appear at http://www.mississippimagazine.com and in Mississippi Magazine's next issue, or may be obtained by sending a stamped self-addressed envelope after the issue's publication to Mississippi Magazine, Attention: Recipe Contest, 5 Lakeland Circle, Jackson, MS 39216.
